JWS Waste provided a free skip for the recent Community Day project with St George’s Primary School.

 

On Friday the 15th May, Wates Staff, volunteers, and children participated in the Community Day project to create an outdoor classroom for St George’s Primary School. JWS Waste were also eager to get involved by donating a free skip in aid of the project.

The creation of a woodland classroom, and working with local schools, encourages the Forest School Learning Initiative (FSLI). The idea is to create an new and exciting environment for the children to learn, whilst also discovering more about wildlife and caring for surrounding woodland.

The project at St. George’s Primary School involved the installing a firepit, the refurbishing the garden and outdoor areas, and also creating a wooden mud kitchen. The teachers and pupils were enthusiastic and engaged throughout the whole project, and are really excited to be able to have space outdoors to learn new skills and experience new activities.
