Skip & Containers
What type of skips do you offer?
We offer a range of skips and rollonoff containers. Our skips come in sizes 4, 8 and 12 yards. Our rollonoff containers are available in sizes 15, 20, 35 and 40 yards.
JWS also provide specialist containers including enclosed and lockable 8 & 12 yard skips and 8 yard hook skips on sites that require crane-liftable waste containers.
What can/can't go in the skip?
Hazardous waste can not go into your skip under any circumstances – if you believe you are producing hazardous waste please contact us for assistance.
Please see our waste definitions guide to see what type of materials you are producing. This will help us better understand what container is suitable for you.
What size are the skip containers?
You can see the dimensions for our skip and rollonoff page on this page.
How much can I fill a skip?
You can not go past the fill lines in the skip as this can overfill the skip and become a health and safety risk.
If you believe you will be putting in heavier materials such as soil or hardcore, let our team know and they might advise you on how much of these materials you can put into the container.
How much does it cost to hire a skip?
The price of hiring a skip will depend on your location and what waste materials you will be putting into the skip.
Please call us on 0161 737 4545 for more information, or use the request a quote form on our website and a member of our team will be able to help you.
Ordering A Skip
Where can my skip go?
We can drop your container on private lands, such as a driveway or a compound, providing there is enough space for it. If you require the container to go into a specific location, you will be able to direct the driver where to place the container once they have arrived at your site.
Please note that JWS do not place skips on the road.
What size skip do I need?
If you are producing a high quantity of waste materials than a rollonoff might be ideal for you as this will allow you to store more waste.
Please note that heavier materials such as inert or hardcore aren’t suitable for larger containers as this can make them too heavy to lift.
If you are unsure about which container would be ideal for you, feel free to contact our team.
When will the skip be delivered?
We usually ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice before you require a new skip delivery. When booking a skip, you will also be asked for your site access times so we know when the skip can be dropped off at your site.
How long can I have the skip for?
You can have the container for as long as you need it. We tend to advise that you have regular movement on your container, ideally every 2 weeks.
Do you offer a wait and load service?
Yes, JWS can provide a wait and load service if that is what you require. This is particularly ideal for sites that don’t have the room for a skip to be delivered or if you just want to load the skip and have it taken away straight away.
If you require a wait and load service, feel free to contact us on 0161 737 4545 or via our contact us page.
Trade Waste Services
What size bins do you offer?
Our wheelie bins range from 240 litre, 660 litre and 1100 litre units depending on your requirements.
What areas do you cover?
Our trade waste services cover most of the North West, including Salford, Warrington, Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale and Stockport.
When will my bin be delivered?
We typically deliver your waste bin within 3 working days, once we have your signed Duty of Care.
What days will my waste be collected?
The day will depend on your postcode. We advise that you leave your bin out for collection the night before your service day – you will be informed of this before your service starts.
Will I need a contract?
JWS offer a non-contractual service for our customers so you can cancel with us at any time (although we really hope you don’t want to!) Please note that there may be a collection charge, however, if you cancel your service with us within the first 3 months.
We do offer a contracted service if you would prefer – this gives you better security for your service and can also result in a lower price. If you would prefer this please mention this to our team.
How much will a trade service cost?
This will depend on your requirements. Please call us on 0161 737 4545 to speak with a member of our team. Alternatively, you can request a quote via this form.
Do you offer lockable bins?
If you need your bin to be lockable, let our team know when you get in touch. We do request that you use combination locks instead of key locks, as this makes it easier for our driver to access your site.
General Questions
Can I bring waste to your site?
We do accept third-party tipping over our weighbridge. As we are a private company, you will need to be a holder of a waste carriers licence to tip waste on our site. You will also need to bring PPE with you as part of our health & safety requirements.
If you need to tip waste into our site please contact us beforehand on 0161 737 4545.
What happens to my waste?
Here at JWS we like to divert as much as your waste from landfill as possible. We segregate most of our customer’s waste at our very own recycling facility here in Salford.
Once we have segregated your waste, any recyclable materials are sent on to be recycled into new products. Residual waste that can not be recycled is treated to be a resource for heat and electricity. You can find more information here.
How do I access the customer portal?
Our customer portal lets our account customers access information regarding their waste management service, including weighbridge and driver tickets, movements and tonnages.
If you would like access to our customer portal please contact your account manager. Alternatively, you can call 0161 737 4545 or email customercare@jwswaste.co.uk.
How do I access my recycling certificates?
Your login details for your recycling certificates are different to your customer portal login details. If you have forgotten these or would like to request login details, you can do so on the recycling certificates page. This is also where you can access the secure page for your recycling certificates.
The link to this page is included in the Useful Links section in our website footer – simply scroll to the bottom of any page on our website.

What is a Duty of Care document?
A Duty of Care is a legal document required for any waste movements/services. For a trade waste service, JWS provide an annual duty of care document.
For skip & container hire, a Duty of Care document is produced for each movement. Since JWS introduced our driver handheld devices, these are now digitally produced and sent directly to your email address once your job has been completed.
